Stories from sporting events anyone? I couldn’t find a previous dedicated topic so starting this one.
Here, Australia, some parts are slowly going back towards some form of normality, including recently, having larger crowds at some sporting events and I had the ‘luck’ to be involved in one recently.
These are probably not particularly exciting but in the absence of much else happening right now here’s what I’ve got to start off or for some new stimulation:
Sighting number 1.
It’s normal at these things to have an army of security guards working long hours and out in the sun, which of course means there’s cold water constantly being provided (as it should be) to all, and we all know where all that water that goes. The thing is, there appeared to be no issue, at least with this particular organization (though there certainly is with others, but that’s for a different story) ensuring all the guards were well looked after, any of them could have left (and often did leave) momentarily at any point needed without issue. I had my eye on the ‘leader’ in particular, he was really good looking and also seemed to just be a really decent guy from the couple of times I conversed with him throughout the day. He was constantly going around ensuring all the others always had sunscreen, regular rotation into the shade and plenty of water (we’re starting to have hot days here), plus of course drinking copious amounts of it himself. Absolutely doing the right thing and ensuring everyone was OK and had regular breaks, but I did notice he hadn’t taken one himself for quite a few hours. At one point I caught him doing the legs spread, shifting around ‘thing’ as he conversed with one of his colleagues, which I know is just a man stance, many just do it for no apparent reason (and I also enjoy observing it for no other apparent reason too) but when the shifting around starts it can sometimes mean something else. So when he finally did make a B line for the bathroom not long after that, I went following (as by that stage I needed to go anyway as well) and was pleased to find a nice big mark on the urinal with some splatter indicating significant volume and force. At this point those bathrooms were not really being used by anyone other than this team, so it had to be his. I guess it’s sometimes a bit of a man thing, especially in male dominated settings (all of the guards here were male) to hold on as long as possible or not be seen as the first to go, and well, I enjoy watching it play out anyway. Bonus in this case having watched some of the ‘display’ in the lead up I could imagine him taking stance and enjoying his big wee. I like to imagine maybe he liked holding it in, but also might have just been doing a standard man thing. I’ve stated elsewhere that I don’t really do this kind of work anymore, this was a bit of a one-off, but maybe I’m missing out on something? and I’d be happy to work with him again LOL.
Sighting number 2:
This was a spectator, late 20s / 30s, maybe been on the road 4 hours to get there (I don’t actually know, but imagine that if it’s more fun as it’s highly probable given this location anyway), but there seemed to be an accreditation issue and he wasn’t permitted to enter until it had been sorted out. It seemed to take forever, probably at least half an hour, to sort out. He was actually very patient and compliant (you know whereas some people get real aggro) which is why I didn’t suspect anything and felt a bit sorry for him after. During that half an hour it became really busy at the entrance too, so there may well have been some movement (again, imagine if it’s more fun) but my attention was drawn elsewhere and I saw nothing. I was only aware at one point he started more frequently re-trying his pass at the gates looking frustrated (I guess in vain hope the issue had finally been sorted /or was about to be sorted and the gates would let him in soon) but still remaining calm and compliant. Eventually his pass worked and he went through. Momentarily stopped by some acquaintances to chat close enough nearby that I overheard, following a couple of quick introductory pleasantries, excusing himself with a very matter-of-fact “Sorry, I’m about to wet myself” and bolting into the bathroom. The thing with this one is, the gentleman, in my opinion (and turned out to be as well, there had just been some administrative error) was entirely trustworthy and courteous, and in a situation and place where quite frankly a lot of people aren't. In hindsight, if I’d have known his predicament, I’d have felt awkward seeing him have to wait for half an hour, even though he did so very patiently. I’d probably have tried, even being slightly against protocol and not really even being my place, to have him quickly escorted to bathroom and back out again as it was literally right beside the gate, so not really much chance of him running further without being caught by security anyway.
That’s all I’ve got. Sorry if boring, I’ve tried embellishing for excitement, but in the absence of anything much else really going right now.
Without giving too much away about the exact location or nature of the event, there was of course a bit of the usual/expected pissing in the bush and behind trees (this place is very much surrounded by bush and trees, not built up at all) plus some of the usual 'sound effects' (grunts, groans, sighs, "I was about to explode mate" exclamations) coming from the toilet blocks (old style outdoor blocks with semi detached roof, so you can hear a lot if walking past) during intermission.
Cheers.
