Great find! I wonder whether that young guy in the first video won the contest considering how the odds were stacked against him. Would have loved to see the moment of relief too haha. I wish I could understand what they were saying, though.

Re the first video:
Those guys risked "water intoxication" by drinking so much in a short time. A clock in the background would have given us an idea of time elapsed. The two fellows in the middle both seemed to be distressed. I wish that the video ran a bit longer.

We've seen a number of videos like this, which suggests that holding contests among men is a relatively popular activity.

I don't speak enough Spanish to understand this, but it seems to be about holding one's pee (and perhaps the dangers thereof). Can anyone give us a brief summary?

Then Carolina introduces the topic while Alberto comes back. He says, "It was horrible, it was horrible. I felt like my bladder was about to explode. Fortunately, nothing embarrassing happened, but I was very close."

Some data they bring up:
-People on average urinate between four and seven times a day.
-An adult's bladder can hold around 470mL of liquid before he starts feeling the urge
-Through the night, this amount can double before your bladder warns you. That's why it feels like you had drunk a small lake when you pee in the morning.

They talk about the external sphincter and how it will involuntarily let the bladder empty if it's way too full. Then, they talk about the risk of getting urinary tract infections if you leave urine in there for too long.

I cannot imagine the guy at the stop would hold out much longer. If he lasted til the bus arrived I reckon he would have peed his pants on the journey. To some extent his embarrassment would be concealed by his dark trousers though.

I agree! I can't believe he's just standing there waiting for the bus. What does he imagine he's going to do?

While "hold it until I get home" may be a common practice, I don't think he's going to make it if his bus ride is more than 5 or 10 minutes.

Sometimes the tank can get too full, and then they think if they just released 'a bit' but it seems that most people when they normally do go, its to let it all out, rather than just let a little out.

So when they try and 'let a little out' to ease the pressure the floodgates won't close again. It can be learnt, and is uncomfortable...
