A Guy Who Peed or Held Impressively?

Most of us are probably observant of the urination habits of others. Who have you known, be it a family member, friend or stranger who either peed an impressive amount or who drank quite a lot and didn't pee for a very long time? This might either be a one-time incident or a habitual thing.

Yes, I know someone like that.
It happened a couple of years ago or so; a friend of mine went to an amusement park with some other guys and when he came back, he told me about their day there.
I was genuinely interested in the descriptions of the rollercoasters and such but suddenly he randomly said out of nowhere: “I managed to make it the entire drive there and half of the day in the park without using the toilet.”
That interested me even more than the rollercoasters.
I know that he has a larger than average bladder and can go for hours on end without peeing while keeping normally hydrated, but this comment was just mind-blowing for me.
The drive to the park had been around 5 hours, maybe 5 and a half and since they arrived early, I assume that ‘half of the day in the park’ meant a range from 6-8 hours.
That would make either 11, 12 or 13 hours for him without taking a piss once!
I wanted to enquire further, I really wished I could have.
But I feared that such questions would reveal that I was overly interested in that topic so I just said something along the lines of: “Crazy, but it isn’t that beneficial for your health.”
He said he knew that but he wasn’t doing something like this every day after all.
(I realise just now what a boring and strange response that was - like I was trying to give him a lecture . But I just didn’t know what to say in that situation without revealing my interest).
Then we continued to talk about something else and the topic was forgotten.
But I know that he does ‘something like this’ every day.
Maybe not 11-13 hours but I’ve been spending enough time with him to know that he can easily go 8+ hours without urinating regularly.

He always says that he’s afraid of catching diseases in public toilets which is reasonable to an extent but as a male he hardly touches anything apart from himself so I never really understood.
He’s willingly putting himself through discomfort rather than just using a public toilet just because he’s super, super afraid of germs.
And I noticed it’s hard to spot any desperation, he can literally sit next to you on the sofa while watching a film and then suddenly jump up, announcing: “I need to piss!” and then dashing to the toilet.
I often saw him doing that and I’m pretty sure that it’s often a ‘Damn, I don’t want to pee right now but if I don’t go, I’ll wet myself’ situation.
I’m very sure that he’s leaked into his pants more than once but of course I cannot know for certain.

Interesting friend you have there, Simon.

A friend of mine, someone I'm not in touch with anymore, was a bit similar. We never talked about the subject, but I almost never saw him use the toilet. On one memorable occasion we spent a whole day hiking up and down a mountain in Wales. I had to pee at least twice while out in the open air and was hoping he would too so that it wouldn't be just me, but both times he just waited politely while I let loose. And he never peed in what must have been about 8-10 hours of the day, car journeys to and from the mountain included.

The same was always true during other activities on other occasions. But there was one day when we were playing table tennis together where I lived and, very suddenly, he stopped in the middle of a knock-up, put the bat and ball down, said "I've got to pee", and ran off to the toilet. I'm surprised he knew where it was actually, despite having come round to my place many times before, because that was the first time he'd ever used it!

So I can only guess he was doing something similar to what your friend does, Simon. Maybe for the same reason (fear of germs) but I don't know.

I can think of one more reason for your friend's excessive holding, Brian. Of course I don't know him and can't say anything about his personality but maybe he's shy?
I'm just very aware of that because I often experience it myself.
I've always been shy about asking for the toilet, feeling unnecessarily embarrassed about it, I don't know why, though.
It's better with close friends, I know where the toilet is in their houses and can easily excuse myself.
But if I'm somewhere for the first time and don't know where it is, I can hardly get myself to ask.
And then even if I know where it is, the first couple of times it is still difficult to just excuse myself and go.
Maybe your friend felt the same way.

Simonwater, The fact that he told you he had held his pee for half a day might be because he was proud of doing it. While he may be using his fear of germs to explain it, that would be a more socially acceptable reason than admitting that he gets a sense of pride in the accomplishment, much like an athlete achieving a personal goal. He may even enjoy the sensations from a full bladder. Brian, the same may apply to your friend.

I think it’s a mix. He’s definitely afraid of germs, he’s not using that as a fake excuse. But he’s also proud of his ability to hold it for a long time for sure. On a few occasion I’ve heard him saying: "Well, I've got a big / strong bladder." I guess he thinks: As long as I’m physically able to hold it, I don’t need to bother going to the toilet.

I guess he thinks: As long as I’m physically able to hold it, I don’t need to bother going to the toilet.

I like people with that attitude, and I think my "closet holder" neighbor has it.
