Situations like this raise questions in my mind. Was he holding a full bladder when he answered that call? If so, why? Does he have a habit of holding his pee until the last minute? How long has he been on the phone?

This one deserves appreciation too. It's an old favourite of mine and I think it was a youtube clip from years ago. Something about a desperate businessman in a suit really does it for me. One of the three clips in that set shows, just at the end, his friend/colleague tickling or otherwise teasing him about his obvious desperation. I do wonder how it all ended.

While I think one in five enjoying the thrill of holding might be an overestimate, I've mentioned many times about "closet holders". For some it might be subconscious, but I think holding in pee is an exciting experience that is practiced more often than we might expect.

Hmm. I wonder, though, how many "closet holders" actually like holding pee until they can't any longer in a public place - like that train in the video clip - with all the risks that involves. Doing it at home is one thing. But on a train is quite another! If that Japanese businessman enjoys holding his pee in, would he still enjoy it if he wet his suit in that train in front of everyone?

Not sure whether anything is lost in translation, and also the meaning of "can't" - I think many people will say that they "can't hold it in anymore" even though they still have some room before they start to leak. Perhaps a person will say this at the stage when holding it in is consuming all his or her mental energy instead of being able to focus on anything else. But I don't really know the Japanese context either.

I suspect a significant proportion of people do enjoy holding his or her bladder, perhaps up to a certain level, but not to the extent of wetting himself or herself, and much less so in the public. Some of these people would eventually find where their ultimate limits lie, it could either be a deliberate push, but possibly much more likely, simply failing to plan for toilet breaks or overestimating their holding abilities.

As for the Japanese video, I am not confident to describe the desperate young man to be a businessman, because this looks like typical office attire in Japan. Although I have no context to guide me, I tend to lean on the hypothesis that he didn't adequately plan the required logistics before he got onto the train, rather than deliberately getting himself desperate. It should be noted that in Japan, there is a culture for colleagues to head out for a drink after knocking off work, with the usual known effects from alcohol - the large number of photos posted by Shibuya Meltdown chronicles the extent of this issue.
