Using public facilities

Post by Lee »

I was just listening to someone talking about the new normal after lockdown. One of the things he spoke about was only allowing one person at a time to use public toilets. That could be interesting if a bursting lad runs up to the toilet to find it occupied!!

What about arriving at a motorway service station and finding a 10-man queue, socially-distanced, stretching back across the car park?

Or sitting in a pub, probably in the garden? Are the days of a lad waiting until he's about to burst before heading for the toilets, at an end?

There could be some interesting, not to say embarrassing, sights outside the toilets!

Any other situations spring to mind?

One I have thought of is the reluctance of people to use public restrooms overall. Personally, I try to avoid them now when possible, whereas before I welcomed the opportunity. Avoiding public restrooms will lead to some interesting sightings or happenings I'm sure. Hope to see lots of roadside pissers or alleyway duckers.

Someone I know had to bring his dog to the veterinarian last week. It was a long trip, and he needed to pee when he got there, but the vet was doing curbside pickup. No opportunity to use the rest room there! He had to quickly find a store that would let him use their facilities. Many places are doing curbside service - you never enter their place of business, so all those toilets are now unavailable.

Once bars and other drinking places are open, will they limit their multiple-urinal men's rooms to one or two at a time? I can picture men at a sports bar where there is usually a rush to the men's room during a break in the game they're watching - now waiting in line six feet apart because they're not allowed to share that cozy trough urinal.

As much as this would be hot to see, I cannot see it being the new normal.

Society needs to get back to what was normal in my opinion.

Around here the current normal seems to be heading to the park to drink beer (rather than the pub), I’ve seen 7-8 people pissingnin the park in the last week alone! I can’t imagine that the sudden reduction in toilet capacity and availability is going to stop people getting themselves into a sticky situation!

I am trying to avoid them too, unless I am in a place I trust. The result for now is that it is my bladder that decides how long I can stay outside (not much!)

Also here all public toilets are closed, and the use in shops and cafes is limited to customers only. This definitely will provide a boost to desperation sightings!

On another site was a picture of a men's room with half a dozen urinals in a row, and every other one was covered. If that becomes the pattern, when there is high demand there is twice the chance that there will be a queue to use the urinals available. With a trough urinal that normally accommodates several men, unless it's more than six feet long it will be one man at a time! For years we've heard the ladies complain about there being too few fixtures, and now it's the men's turn to have to wait. :o

I really hope we go back to normal soon on the toilets situation. I have already encountered a few lines as you are saying.
